One of the biggest problems in combating TB is the lack of new tools–especially new medicines to cure drug-resistant TB.
A new reserach group seeks to help fill that void–it’s called RESIST-TB, for Research Excellence to Stop TB Resistance.
Dr. Robert Horsburgh Jr., a professor of epidemiology, biostatistics and medicine at Boston University’s School of Health is on the steering committee.
The group will focus on for drug-resistant tuberculosis and increasing awareness of the drug-resistant TB threat. You can find a little more info at the group’s temporary website, at http://resisttb.org. The site is currently under construction, but it should be up May 1st.
