Have a pioneering scientific solution for diarrhea, pneumonia, or TB, but no money to test it out?
Maybe Bill Gates can help. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is accepting grant proposals for the third round of its Grand Challenges Explorations initiative, a $100 million program to help scientists “pursue innovative ideas” to address major global health problems.
A missive from the Foundation says that “initial grants will be $100,000 each, and projects showing promise may have the opportunity to receive additional funding of $1 million or more.”
You can apply online at http://www.grandchallenges.org/Explorations until May 28, 2009. That web address is also where you will find descriptions of the topics and application instructions.
